Martin: No Filter Fighters turns characters and comic rivalries from the sitcom Martin into a free 2D fighting fan game. Martin aired on Fox from 1992 to 1997 and starred Martin Lawrence as Martin Payne, a Detroit radio DJ whose life revolves around Gina and friends including Pam, Cole and Tommy. Lawrence also played Sheneneh, Jerome and Dragonfly Jones, while Tommy Davidson played Varnell Hill. That mix of main cast members and exaggerated comic personas shapes the game’s roster.

The Trey2k23 itch.io release is made by TDHampton Productions and is an unofficial, non-commercial fan tribute. It is not endorsed by the show’s creators, cast or networks. The creator’s earlier Fan Concept in Progress video shows early development footage, while the full showcase reflects an earlier seven-fighter version of the game. The browser version is still in development.

The current roster has nine fighters: Martin, Gina, Pam, Cole, Tommy, Sheneneh, Varnell Hill, Dragonfly Jones and Jerome. Jerome is listed with ice powers, and Dragonfly Jones has the KG call, a dojo stage and his own story chapter. Older videos may show only seven fighters, so check the current roster before choosing.

The game has seven named stages: The Varnell Hill Show, Martin’s Apartment, Club GTD, Sheneneh’s Salon, Nipsey’s, Dragonfly’s Dojo and The Playa’s Ball. Each stage has its own theme music, and wall breaks can move a fight into another arena.

Fighter-and-sidekick teams add a second layer to character choice. The support character is chosen separately, and no character can appear twice in the same match. Signature supers draw on the show’s humor, including Big Shirley, Party Over Here, Job Roulette, cartoon Martin’s Mic Drop and Dragonfly’s KG call.

Story Mode currently names No Filter: The Tournament for Martin and The Way of the Dragonfly for Dragonfly Jones. A developer update on October 13, 2026 announces Bruh-Man as an upcoming character with a stage, sidekick super and story chapter. He is not one of the nine fighters currently listed. Arcade, Versus, Training, CPU Showcase and Online Versus offer other ways to use the roster.

The current version supports keyboards, gamepads and mobile touch controls. Meta Quest 2 and 3 players can use the Quest browser, and the developer also mentions PLAY IN VR with Touch controllers. Click Play Now above to open Trey2k23’s itch.io page, then select Run game. At the title screen, click inside the game and press Enter or your controller’s Start button. Continue past the fan-demo notice to reach Select Mode. The game’s fullscreen button gives you a larger view.

Start with Arcade if you want to fight a sequence of rivals. The mode menu also lets you change CPU difficulty before you confirm. Training is a separate option for practicing inputs, and CPU Showcase lets you watch computer-controlled matches. Pick the mode that fits your goal before you choose fighters.

Choose your main fighter, then pick a sidekick from the remaining roster. A character can only appear once per match: the two fighters and two sidekicks must all be different. In Arcade, the computer chooses its own fighter and sidekick.

Pick a stage from the arena picker and confirm the fight. The current picker offers The Varnell Hill Show, Martin’s Apartment, Club GTD, Sheneneh’s Salon, Nipsey’s, Dragonfly’s Dojo and The Playa’s Ball, plus Random if you want the game to choose.

Once the match starts, watch the health bars, round timer, hit feedback and super meters. Get within range before trying a regular attack, and test one button at a time rather than pressing every input at once. Special moves, supers and sidekick calls each have their own inputs, so spend a short session learning them before you try to win a full Arcade run.

Stage breaks can knock an opponent through a wall into another arena, so keep track of your opponent’s position after each transition. Signature supers and rival dialogue add the show’s humor to the fights.

For a local match, choose Versus and use the separate Player 1 and Player 2 controls. Online Versus uses a room code so you can play with a friend. Settings lets you remap keyboard keys or controller buttons and adjust volume. On a phone or tablet, rotate the device to landscape and use the on-screen touch controls.
