Start by choosing a mode: Arcade for a seven-fight ladder, VS CPU for a quick solo match, local Versus for two players on one keyboard, online matchmaking for 1v1, a private room for friends, or Training to practice. Then pick your fighter and a sidekick before the round begins.

In online play, use Find Match to meet a random opponent, or enter a friend's four-letter room code to share a private room. A standard fight is best of three rounds. Build meter by attacking, blocking, taking damage or taunting, then spend it on Supers or an Ultra. Local tag-team Versus supports 2v2, while online matches are 1v1.
