Kakooma Math Game – Play Online & Practice Number Facts

Kakooma is a Tang Math number puzzle about spotting arithmetic relationships inside a small set of numbers. Each board shows several groups, and every group is a compact problem to inspect — it rewards noticing how numbers fit together rather than writing out long calculations. The visual layout keeps the focus on one group at a time, so you can work out an equation and then compare the next group. In addition practice you can also treat a group as a missing-part question: if 9 is the total and 4 is one part, look for 5 among the remaining numbers. The Variation menu moves from small addition facts up to larger totals, multiples of ten, multiplication and fractions. Keep the pace comfortable enough to explain each relationship; a harder variation is most useful once you understand the operation, not just when you can click quickly. The board here is the one Tang Math serves at its main Kakooma address: the number grid, the Variation selector and the zoom controls. Follow whatever controls appear on your screen, since the layout can differ between Kakooma pages and older guides.

Click Play Now to open Tang Math's Kakooma board. It starts on Add within 10, showing a few groups of small numbers arranged around a plus sign. Begin with one group instead of scanning the whole board. In each group, find the number that equals the sum of two others. A group holding 4, 9, 2 and 5 works because 4 + 5 = 9, so the number to spot is the result, 9. Your own board will show different numbers. Select a number to highlight it while you check the relationship. Work out the equation first, then use the highlight to keep your eye on the candidate result. The highlight is a focus aid; the useful part is doing the sum. Move on to the next group. A handy method is to start from the largest number in a group and ask which two smaller numbers add up to it, then check the sum. Saying the equation aloud helps when you play with a child or classmate. Change Variation for a different kind of practice: addition within 10, 20, 25 and 100, an addition set using multiples of 10, Multiply A, Multiply B, and Add Fractions. Re-read the operator after switching, because each variation plays differently. Use the minus and plus controls to resize the board. Shrinking it fits every group on screen, while enlarging it makes the numbers easier to read. On a narrow screen, scroll inside the game so you do not miss the lower groups. Follow the controls on the board you are playing. Tang Math updates its interfaces from time to time, so an older guide may look different from the version above.

Kakooma Math Game FAQs

Where can I play Kakooma Math Game online?

Click Play Now above to load the Tang Math number board. Start with the displayed addition puzzle, or change Variation when you want a different operation.

What am I looking for in an addition group?

Find a number equal to the sum of two other numbers in that group. With 4, 9, 2 and 5, the useful relationship is 4 + 5 = 9.

Does Kakooma include multiplication and fractions?

Yes. The Variation menu includes Multiply A, Multiply B and Add Fractions, alongside several addition ranges and an addition option using multiples of ten.

How do I make the whole number board fit?

Use the minus control to shrink the board and plus to enlarge it. If the lower groups are out of view, scroll inside the game or reduce its size.

Do I need to log in before trying the puzzle?

The current Kakooma number board can be opened and its numbers selected without signing in. Tang Math's other resources and membership features have separate access arrangements.

Why do some Kakooma tutorials show different menus?

Tang Math also provides a legacy version with Practice, Play and Compete menus. The current puzzle above uses Variation and zoom controls, so its interface differs from those older demonstrations.
